Introducing RMR for Active Directory

Equifax, Target, Yahoo, Home Depot, and JP Morgan Chase have one thing in common – they’ve all suffered huge data breaches in the past few years. Affecting billions of people and costing hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, these incidents represent only a small portion of known data breaches. Verizon’s 2018 annual Data Breach Investigations report lists tens of thousands of documented breaches and incidents in the past year alone, and those incidents are not limited to billion-dollar businesses. In fact, Verizon cautions “most attacks are opportunistic and target not the wealthy or famous, but the unprepared.” So, are you prepared for an attack on your Active Directory network?

What is RMR?

RMR (pronounced “armor”) is a desktop application that protects your network from breaches like these by identifying dangerous security holes that have been used to attack other Active Directory networks, including: non-administrators that can grant themselves admin rights, computers using insecure protocols, and users with blank passwords. Allow RMR to analyze your domain to locate these issues, then after the scan completes, review your results and fix the issues detected with a single click. With a tool this simple, there’s no excuse to leave your network vulnerable.

Proactive Protection

Analyze every user, group, and computer in your directory to shut down known loopholes before attacks happen.

Security on a Schedule

Detect and repair new security issues as soon as they appear with daily scheduled scans.

Effortless Undo

Revert any changes made with a single click, perfectly restoring the affected objects to their prior state.

How does it work?

RMR analyzes every user, group, and computer in your directory to find security weaknesses that have been used to exploit Active Directory networks of other companies, large and small. Drawing information from well-known historical attacks, Microsoft security recommendations, and Department of Defense (DoD) technical implementation guides, RMR is able to detect the precise conditions in your network that expose your data to malicious actors.

What happens after issues are detected?

After an RMR scan completes, you will be presented with a list of issues detected. Many of these issues will have a recommended fix, which can be applied instantly with a single click on the Fix button. Others may require manual intervention, which can be perfomed either from the Actions button, or from another application.

What is the quarantine?

The recommended fix for issues that suggest a user account has already been compromised is usually quarantining the object. Quarantined users are disabled and moved to a special OU, where they can be reviewed at a later time and deleted permanently or restored if determined to be safe after a manual inspection. Objects restored from the RMR quarantine are re-enabled and moved back to their original locations.

How much will RMR cost?

As the program is in beta, a final price point has not been set. Check back regularly as we get closer to release for this information, and other news about upcoming RMR features.
