New Solution for Microsoft® Active Directory® Administrators Streamlines Tasks and Enables Efficient and Cost Effective Management

(MCP TechMentor Conference, San Diego, CA - 09.03.2002) Javelina Software, LLC, today announced the release of ADvantage™, an innovative new product that ensures simplified, expedient management of tasks essential to the administration of Active Directory® (AD).

The ADvantage toolkit is designed so that users can execute multiple tasks at the same time. Without this product, an administrator will have to write scripts, or change user properties, for example, one by one. The ADvantage toolkit includes the following tools: Add User, Delete User, Modify User, Reset Password, Search and Replace on AD user attributes and ACLs (Access Control Lists), ACLMaintenance on AD, ACL Maintenance on File System, Resynch AD, and an Undo tool to reverse previously executed tasks. In addition to the tools, ADvantage features an advanced Reporting function that allows the user to create a custom report without scripts, then import saved report lists into other tools for immediate action. And, its unique scheduling feature allows administrators to execute ADvantage tasks during off-peak hours for added convenience.

ADvantage also features a Custom Tools wizard, which was named as a top priority for Active Directory administrators in a recent Customer Advisory Meeting held by Javelina Software. It allows an administrator in charge to create custom tools from the standard tools offered, enabling the administrator to deliver customized tools to their team. The administrator has the option to pre-configure tool settings, as well as the option to configure specific task fields within the tools. Intended to aid administrators of all skill levels, ADvantage is designed to provide flexibility to any administrator tackling or distributing AD tasks.

Using the custom reporting tool easily enables users to construct and filter data in Active Directory—completely eliminating the need for scripting solutions or third party databases. And, the report output can be imported back into other ADvantage tools, allowing users to take immediate action on the problems uncovered by the report. For example, a report is created to show users who have a Home Folder on an overloaded server A. Import this report into theModify User tool, specifying the new Home Folder location on the faster server B, and select the option to copy the contents of the folder. By executing this task, the users identified in the report immediately have their Home Folder, and contents, relocated on the faster server B.

ADvantage also contains features that ensure accuracy. Users can utilize the Simulate feature on all of the tools in the kit to ensure error-free execution at runtime. ADvantage also provides output logs with each of the tools that allow administrators to keep tabs on all previously executed tasks.

Available in September 2002, ADvantage is sold to enterprises according to a per Administrator pricing model. Javelina Software is offering an introductory price of $495 through December 31, 2002. On January 1, 2003, ADvantage will be available at a list price of $995 per Admin copy.
